Marian Ferrante

Marian has lived in Antioch, CA for 39 years. She holds an MA in Speech Pathology, a Certificate in Storytelling from Dominican College, is a member of Storytelling of California, of National Storytelling Network, and has been leading Delta Wordweavers Storytellers for 38 years.

Marian has been married to Fred for 52 years and they have two boys; one is a high school math teacher, the other works in a county juvenile hall. She is active in her community, currently serving her church as a Sunday School teacher and leads the Trustee/facility committee, is on the Board of Friends of the Antioch Library and volunteers for the Antioch Historical Society.

Oral storytelling was part of her speech and language therapy work in the schools. Language disabled, stuttering and articulation students had a chance to shine before their classmates when they presented an oral story. Classmates would say, "How did you remember that whole story?" Complements were like gold to them!

Marian tells personal, historical and folktales to her listeners. She loves to coach her new swap tellers who need to get away from memorization, off the page, and into the scene of their stories! It's such a satisfying accomplishment when met. Marian has told stories at swaps, Sr. centers, organizations, schools, camp, hiking groups, family gatherings, in a MI county prison, and more. She tells where she is, including California, Michigan, Tennessee, Arizona, Florida, Italy, China and Bosnia
